How do I become a Christian?
- (James 4:14 NKJV) 14whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
God has made it very simple for anyone with a true and honest heart to become a Christian. In Mark 16:15-16 Jesus is speaking to his disciples after he arose from the dead. “15And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”
The gospel Jesus was talking about is the good news that God sent his only son to the earth to die on the cross as a perfect sacrifice for the sins of the entire world and that he was raised from the dead so that we might have the hope of eternal life with him.
If you believe this, then you too can become a Christian by repenting of your sins (Acts 17:31) and being baptized for the forgiveness of your sins. An example of this is in Acts 2:37-38. Peter was speaking to the very group of Jews who had Jesus crucified. He had told them who Jesus was. The people realized what they had done and were very sorry. They said to Peter and the other apostles "Brethren what shall we do?" Peter said to them "Repent and let each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit".
